Located by Rio Maior, at just 35 minutes from the north exit of Lisbon, the Golden Eagle is one of the most fascinating and competitive Portuguese courses. Framed within a natural landscape environment, where trees almost touch the limits of the fairways, the course was set in an extension of approximately 224 acres, along which players are forced to go around eight lakes and 87 bunkers of large dimensions.

From the North American architect Rocky Roquemore, the course presents a typical modern north-American school design focused on target golf. The diversity of holes, many of which truly exceptional, the uncommon dimensions of the bunkers and the landscape framing are some of the qualities that make it one of the best national lay outs.
With the construction of new tees, which increased the extension of the course, the Golden Eagle ascended to the championship category. Nowadays one of the longest courses in Portugal, it has become even more competitive, providing a stimulating challenge to demanding golfers, which enjoy seeing their efforts being rewarded.

Prepare yourself for a challenge at the Golden Eagle – an extensive estate framed by mature umbrella pines, cork oaks, tall eucalyptus trees and golden-blossomed acacias. One of the longest in Portugal, this 18-hole golf course meanders through the Golden Eagle resort, featuring wide, immaculately maintained fairways, eight lakes and an astounding 87 bunkers. The course has a modern North American design focused on target golf, where skill and accuracy are the essence of play. Host of the Portugal Ladies Open in 2009, many other professional tournaments are planned at Golden Eagle in the future.
