Hidden away behind the main church in Caldas da Rainha is a modern establishment with fresh, interesting food which is well worth a visit when you are next on holiday in Portugal.
The restaurant Meia Tigela offers an interesting range of snacks and main meals and is one of the few places locally that offers a daily vegetarian special. Today's was "Goat's Cheese Quesadillas with honey and toasted Almonds" which was delicious and made a change from the usual "vegetarian" options you get elsewhere.
Between the 6 of us we also tried the Chicken Stroganoff, the Beefburger, the Chicken and Fusilli Pasta and best of all the Black Spaghetti with Mussels and Prawns which was perfect (see pic above).
We couldn't resist the deserts and they didn't disappoint, the apple pie was moist and tasty and the "Chocolate Pot" was a very delicious gooey chocolate "Petite Gateau".
For 4 adults and 2 kids the total price for 5 mains, 4 desserts and 3 coffees was a very reasonable 53 Euros
The dinner menu looks very interesting with sharing platters for 2 or more people also very reasonably priced with different themes such as meat, seafood, cheese and Indian.
Definitely call in next time you visit Caldas da Rainha during your Silver Coast Holiday in Portugal
