Restaurante do Coto
Hidden away in the hills overlooking Tornada is a little gem waiting to be found. The Restaurante do Coto may not be in the ideal location for your typical Portugal Holiday but it is definitely worth making the trip to try their cuisine.
Owned and managed by the friendly yet efficient João they have taken traditional Portuguese food and have elevated each dish with a modern twist.
A great example of this is the highly recommended " Bacalhau a Rainho", a Salt Cod fish pie with shrimps in a creamy sauce.
The desserts are also all homemade on the premises with the same philosophy in mind and are also delicious, of particular note the Lime Mouse with Meringue and the Wild Berries Cheesecake. Divine.
And all at good value as well, with 5 adults and 2 children with everyone enjoying starters, mains, desserts and 4 coffees (no wine) the bill came to a very reasonable €80. Portions are very generous!
The decor is fresh, modern and welcoming and most importantly, comfortable.
Well worth the detour to try this excellent restaurant next time you're next visiting Portugal's Silver Coast.
