It was a bit of a surprise when Indian Restaurant Dehli Darbar first opened in Caldas da Rainha - the Portuguese are not the most adventurous at trying new cuisine and we didn't expect it to survive long. An even bigger surprise was that not only did the restaurant attract a healthy local following but when we finally got round to trying it we found it was really, really good!
The staff are extremely efficient, professional and friendly and the menu is varied from mild Korma's to extra hot Vindaloo's - there is definitely something for everyone.
We all like to start with poppadom's and onion bhajis and for mains my personal favourite is the Chiken Tikka Jalfrezi ,Katia likes the Chicken Korma whilst Kevin usually goes for the Prawn Vindaloo. The Cobra beer is the same as in the UK but the gin and tonics are something else!
Recently they have also started doing very affordable lunch menus with Garlic Bread, a Chicken or Beef Dish, Plain Rice, Drink and Coffee for only €7.50 per person.
